The Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is Located Within The Laguna Seca Recreation Area
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is a paved road racing track in central California used for both auto racing and motorcycle racing, built in 1957 near both Salinas and Monterey, California, United States. Known around the world as one of the greatest racing facilities, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is run by SCRAMP (Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula) a 501(c)4 non-profit organization. Comprised of a group of dedicated and passionate volunteers, SCRAMP takes pride in providing a wonderful guest experience while simultaneously giving back to the local community.
The Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP) has been an active and highly visible part of the Monterey Peninsula community. Since our beginning in 1957 when 62 local companies and scores of individuals offered their services and donations to make Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca a reality, SCRAMP has been a community effort.
As a non-profit 501(c)4 organization, SCRAMP donates proceeds to local charities and civic organizations. We have grown from presenting a single motorsport event each year to producing five major events that draw visitors from around the world and seen by millions internationally on many broadcast channels.
Originally part of the former Fort Ord military base, Laguna Seca was turned over to the County of Monterey in 1974, and designated the overall management responsibility to the Monterey County Parks Department. SCRAMP continues as the day-to-day management firm to oversee all aspects of the Monterey County-owned Laguna Seca Recreation Area (except the shooting range).
The SCRAMP “family” consists of thousands of volunteers, including a volunteer Board of Governors and Race and Events Committee. These dedicated volunteers come from all walks of life and across the tri-county area to make up the work force needed to stage events at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The largest group of volunteers is comprised of more than 70 charities and civic organizations whose membership numbers in the thousands.
SCRAMP includes a paid professional staff who handle the day-to-day operations.
There is so much to see and do when visiting Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, whether it’s making a quick overnight stop to see a race, or if you’re making a weekend of it and checking out all the cool attractions in the Monterey County area.
